"How Bad Food & Bad Medicine Spawned The Diabetes Plague & How To End It!" ![]()
his edition of the Warrior has been rumbling around in my head for a long time. I’m going to get down to the nitty-gritty of how processed foods, fast foods, and conventional medicine contributed to the worldwide epidemic of diabetes.
I’ll also try to apprise you of the history of conventional diabetic treatments, so you’ll understand how drugs and injected insulin became standard therapy. I’m mad as hell. It didn’t have to be like this. We let down our guard and trusted faceless corporations in the food industry, pharmaceutical industry and medical community with our delicate health — and they failed us miserably. In particular, we let the processed food and fast food industries take nutritious PRIMAL foods that our ancestors have thrived on for millions of years and turn them into addictive poisons that make us ill simply for profit.
Then we allowed the medical and pharmaceutical industries to hijack health care by convincing us that health comes from drugs or surgery — not good food. We let their greed — their love of money and power — corrupt our well-being and in the process millions of decent folks suffer declining health, horrendous complications and finally death.
But, this newsletter is not about despair. It’s about hope and recovery! And there is tremendous hope since you can only fall victim if you are not aware or don’t take action. That’s just what I intend to do in this issue — give you the information you need to protect yourself and fight this criminal injustice. You might even be able to join a class-action lawsuit! But, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start at the beginning. History of the Diabetes Epidemic
— 7000% Increase in 110 Years!
We all know that the incidence of Type 2 Diabetes has been soaring for the past twenty-five years. Some experts estimate that today it affects some 20,000 people out of 100,000 or about 20% of the population. Ten thousand out of that 100,000 are moderately to severely debilitated.
The National Diabetes Clearinghouse has a different estimate. It places the number of cases at 15.7 million. They have 174 million people in their database, so considering that the total U.S. population is 260 million; there is a realistic projection that about 23.5 million folks are affected. If the first set of experts are to be believed then the true estimate is closer to 52 million.
But, no matter how you tally the numbers, this is clearly an epidemic situation. (Much of the history of diabetes and its treatment is credited to the research of Thomas Smith author of; Insulin: Our Silent Killer, by Valley Tech, Inc., Loveland CO, 80537.)
Diabetes wasn’t always a rampaging disease. According to the Encyclopedia Americana (1966 Vol 9, p54), in 1880 its incidence was 2.8 cases per 100,000 people. In the year 1900, diabetes was so rare that most doctors never encountered it. It then rose to 29.7 cases per 100,000 by 1949.
But, then a curious thing happened. The method of reporting the disease changed. You see, prior to 1949, diabetes was known as a blood sugar disorder that also resulted in vascular and arterial disease. This constellation of symptoms is its true nature. After 1949, the vascular and arterial symptoms were now the providence of heart disease specialists and cataloged separately.
This symptom shuffle by medical specialty acted to obscure the true prevalence of the disease. Recalculating the 1949 figure using this method, 29.7 cases per 100,000 population now becomes 16.4 cases per 100,000. This is almost a two-fold decline.
But we’re after a true picture. Let’s examine the well-studied increase in incidence from 1880 to 1990. In just 110 years, the incidence of diabetes has gone from 0.0028% to 20% of the population! That’s over a 7000% increase! On any disease list, diabetes is among either the top 5 or top 10 causes of death and misery and is now admitted to "increase the risk" of heart disease and stroke, which are also in the top ten.
